THE LEARNING CAVE

The Tutor
Kenneth Ng
Kenneth has a background in Electrical Engineering, having obtained his Bachelors (Honours with Distinction) and Masters in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

A private tutor specialising in JC and Secondary tuition since 2012 during his Army BMT days, The Learning Cave is a culmination of over a decade of constant research in pedagogy and development of materials in accordance with well known principles that MOE adapts as well like scaffolding and a spiral curriculum.

All this experience has led to the development of his proprietary ModuLearn Technique where questions are broken down in skills so bite sized they can be explained clearly in no more than two or three sentences. Each syllabus has on average over 800 skills and every question in the question bank (tens of thousands!) are meticulously broken down into one or more of these skills. The idea is not to dump 50 questions for the student to practice but worksheet after worksheet of just 5 to 10 questions, but each worksheet both exposing conceptual flaws in the student's understanding and targeting areas that the student is weak in or has long neglected.

It is close to impossible to personalise questions to individual students to such a degree, but with the teaching techniques and algorithm that Kenneth has developed, The Learning Cave is able to do this for each and every student. Students who want this level of personalisation would usually have to engage a very skilled private tutor, who most definitely do not come cheap - and the reason for such a staggering price is not because of the time spent but the expertise in getting the student to understand explanations quickly and their ability to pick or create questions which are suited just for the student. The ModuLearn Technique is all about doing exactly this and more for any student that comes into The Learning Cave at a much affordable price. Students generally do not have much time to master concepts, which is why both having a good tutor and starting early are necessary.

Kenneth has founded The Learning Cave with a vision to bring personalised education to everyone who's struggling with school. All the student should have to do is to focus on doing questions. With the ModuLearn Technique, we will drill your weak areas for you, we will remind you of concepts long forgotten, we will keep a record of questions you've gotten correct and wrong and we will ensure you are ready for the final exam by the time it comes. All you have to do is just keep doing questions.

Kenneth has taught tutorials and laboratory lesson in NUS as a full-time tutor at NUS to various batches of students, receiving very positive feedback from students regarding methods used during class as well as an ability to explain complex concepts in a straightforward and simple manner - a further testament to his ability to explain concepts, no matter how complex they get.
